A large back print shows a woman looking directly at us, her face framed by a kufiya. Below her appear the words FREEDOM FOR PALESTINE in English and الحرية لفلسطين in Arabic. The front is left blank, giving the back design the full space.
The Story Behind the Design
Hurrīya – حرية is the Arabic word for freedom. The design reads al-Hurrīya – الحرية, “freedom”, together with li-Filastin – لفلسطين, “for Palestine”. The complete message is clear: Freedom for Palestine.
The kufiya has been part of Palestinian daily life for generations. Its history reaches into farming, community and resistance to occupation and displacement. In the back design, it frames the face of a woman who meets our gaze with calm determination. She embodies dignity, steadfastness and the right of Palestinians to shape their own lives and the future of their land.
Freedom for Palestine demands an end to Zionist occupation, displacement and foreign rule. It calls for a free, self-organised Palestine in which Palestinians shape their own social, cultural and political life. A life without blockade or military rule, with freedom of movement and safety in their own land.
